First order of the day, anyone suffered from the recent PR update by Goggod? LithiumMind did. I went from 0 to 3 (a month ago) and then now to 2. I have been really busy with work which cause me not to update this blog as much as I would like to. Could this be one of the reasons why my blog suffered the PR dip?

You might notice that I have reverted to a simple Wordpress template. I am wondering if the previous template could have caused my PR dip. I know that the chances of that happening could be very slim, but I have read that if a template is not designed properly it might affect the SEO of the blog.

What do you guys/gals think about the recent PR update. Did your blog suffer a similar fate? If your blog’s PR increase what did you do differently? These are important questions to ponder upon. However, I still think that PR is slightly over rated.

Now back to the title of this post. Are you wondering what the heck does it mean? Buat duit online simply translates to make money online from Malay to the English language. I am just helping my friend promote her blog which I am co-writing as well. Isn’t that silly? I don’t even have the time to update my blog and now I’m helping my friend. Hopefully she can rank number 1 on Google one day with her niche and then it’s time for her to promote my blog.

This term previously meant that the malay race can do it. However over the time this term has evolved into something different. This keyword has been used to reference pictures. What kind of pictures you might ask. Well let’s just say that it’s not something that you would want to see in the office with a lot of people around.

However this article is aim at providing an insight on how to capitalize important keywords to your advantage. For example the term melayu boleh is not really a competitive keyword, however you will be surprise on the number of searches on this word.

Sometimes making money on the internet may not always have the most glamorous subject or niche. There are a lot of blogs out there that make money through celebrity gossip, entertainment news and other type of niches. If you know how to capitalize on this niche, you will know how to direct all the traffic to your blog. And trust me there is a lot of searches for this niche.

As everyone knows, traffic is the one that really drives a blog. Without traffic your blog is nothing. Once you get enough traffic you can then start to monetize your blog. It could be pay per click, paid advertisement and so on. The main concern for any webmaster is to make sure that your blog is notice by everyone.

So how does knowing a different language be an advantage? Well if you know that a particular phrase is search mainly by the people from a particular country you could used it to your advantage. For example you could use that phrase in your blog. Your blog will then do very well on the SERP which in return will drive readers to your blog.

However of course make sure that the phrase is relevant to your blog. You would not want to capitalize on a term that is related to golfing on a photography blog right? It makes no sense at all.

I have also notice that Google tends to favor blogs that are in English. I can’t confirmed this, however it is base on experience. I have another blog in a different language and it does not rank to well compared to an English blog for the same phrase. Could it be because Google algorithm is geared towards analyzing keywords for English? I will have to do more research to validate my findings.

Another important note about providing advertisement on your blogs such as Google adsense, is to make sure that you place important keywords on your blog. Google detects these keywords and place relevant advertisement on your blog. Once you notice that your post has relevant advertisement, you could write the post, so that at the end of it, your readers would want to find more information. And guess what, the advertisement being displayed could be the answer to what your reader has been looking for. That’s one of the key success to having PPC on your blog. Everyone is pretty immune to all the advertisement on blogs. The key is to grab your readers attention and make them want to find out more. That curiosity is the one that will make them click on the relevant advertisement.

This post is also part of an experiment. I wonder how well this blog could rank on SERP with the term melayu boleh. Could it make it on the top 10 of the google? We will see in time.

I always wondered how none celebrities ever manage to increase their twitter followers by the thousands. It would be an achievement if my followers could even reach the figure of 1000 people. Everyone knows that the more followers you get, the chances of someone visiting your blog increases. Twitter has become one of the best way to increase blog traffic.

After doing much research online I stumbled upon a website called Twitter Follower. This website is create by John Chow.

So what is the big deal with Twitter Follower?

Just check out my Twitter count. Right now it’s hovering around 700++ followers. Previously I had only 40 followers. Therefore, if you want to increase your followers, Twitter Follower is the way to go.

I know that there are automated blogs that generates contents from god-knows-where, but this post is not about automated blogs. It’s about the niche “blog for lazy people“.

I was finding an excuse to be lazy today so I decided to surf the internet for this keyword.  And guess what Google returned?

As you can see from the screen shot above, Hubpages is listed second on the search result.  I have mention in my mini eBook, that Hubpages is one of the 12 websites you must visit after you have created your blog. It gets index by Google super fast.

Just out of curiosity I visited the article and the links to the blog. I am not going to tell you what the person wrote on his/her blog but it’s truly for the lazy blogger. It’s good to know that such stuff exist out there.

However I did learn something today. Sometimes you do not need to write blogs about competitive keywords such as how to make money online, search engine optimization or internet marketing. It’s impossible for a newbie blogger like me to compete for these keywords. I will never be able to rank top 100 on Google search let alone rank top 10.

In the next couple of weeks I am going to do a small research on less competitive keywords. Once I have done that, I am going to use blogger to create my free blog and try my best to rank top 10. I am sure that all of you know the top 2 blogs on the term “make money online” is hosted by blogger.

As for the owner of blog for lazy people, I don’t know who you are, but you deserve a backlink from my blog. You have inspired me to come out with a new blog with a less competitive keyword.

Everyone loves free stuff. One of the best freebies that you can give your readers is a short e-book that is related to your niche for example, how to make money online. This will provide the user with extra encouragement to sign up.
 

2. Allow visitors to publish your articles.

One great way is to allow your visitor to publish your articles. However they will need to request your permission first before publishing the articles on their blog. The fastest way for them to do that is by contacting you is through a request form on your blog. They will then fill in the necessary details, including their email, in the form.

3. Prove to your visitors why they must subscribe

One of the reasons why people might be hesitant to subscribe to any free content is because of email spam. Therefore you should convince your readers why your newsletters are not just another source of spam. The best way of course it to write quality content on your blog. That way your blog content will speak for itself and the readers will know what they will be expecting in their email.
 

4. Write a personal thank you note to your reader

You might have notice that some readers do provide useful comments on your blog post. It is good practice to reply to any comments on your blog. However, if the comments are really valuable and add extra value to the exiting post, take the time to send them a personal “thank you” email. This will not only create a more personal bond between blog owner and reader but provides you the opportunity for that particular reader to recommend your blog to someone else.

You can create a membership drive by making it as a contest. Everyone loves to participate in contest because they know there will be prizes to be won. However you should clearly define the rules and regulation before the start of the contest to avoid confusion and misunderstandings.

The methods mention above will definitely increase the number of readers to subscribe to your mailing list. Remember, that people will only subscribe to your mailing list if you have something valuable to offer. If not, your email will either head directly for the spam or deleted mail bin.

Why should you comment?

1) The more comments you leave, the better chance that someone will visit your site.

2) The best part about a comment is that it gives you the ability for someone to link to your post by you just posting a response to a post.

3) As time goes by, you tend to build up a network with other blogs owners. They will in return provide comment on your pages as well. This will in return form a strong bond between these blog owners.

4) Regular readers of a blog or even the owner will eventually remember your name if you start to comment on a regular basis. In a subtle way, it will actually work to your advantage as you are slowly beginning to build your brand.

Where Should you comment?

Remember, you want to send quality traffic to your blog. Therefore the readers of your blog should be interested in your niche. It would not make much sense if you expect readers from a furniture website to visit your blog that is related to ways to make money online.

Therefore it is critical that you should only provide comments on blogs that is related to your niche. Although commenting on other non related niche blogs may send traffic to your blog, but ask yourself this question, will the reader be interested with the contents of your post? The answer is no. That is because what you have written is of not what the reader is looking for.

Provide comment like how you would expect them.

Here are some very simple tips to help you be a better commenter on any blogs:

1) There should be a purpose to a comment and to provide additional value to the post. The comment could be insightful or even base on a personal experience. Regardless it should provide a value to the post.

2) Don’t bid around the bush. There are some readers that love to write comments that are longer than the original post. However if you examine the comments in detail, it can actually be sum up in a couple of sentences. Make your comments short and sweet. It is much easier for people to remember.

3) Spam stinks. Never ever put in your post link in your text comment unless the owner of the blog has already installed a plugin that automatically detects your last blog post. It is not polite to steal someone else spot light by advertising your site.

4) If you think that a link can be beneficial to the owner of the blog and the other readers out there, then you can it. For example, the blog owner might have written a post about a certain wordpress plugin. However you have read on another website on how to further improve this plugin. You can obviously provide the link to this information in your comment.

Basically it all comes down to common sense. Just ask yourself, how would you like people to comment on your blog? If you do not want certain kind of comments appearing on your blog, you should not expect owners from other blogs to accept that kind of comments as well.

There are so many possibilities with this new application.

Think of Google Wave as an enhance IM and email client together. It allows people to communicate and work together by exchanging text, photo, videos and even maps.

One interesting feature is that since there are sometimes multiple participants, the application does keep the history of the conversation. You can always go back to check to see “who said what” and when it was said.

I am sure you can already see the potential of monetizing Google Wave. Google could easy charge companies to have their adverts displayed. Google might even allow the users to include Adsense within their post, to allow user to make money based on per click basis. However, I am just speculating on the possibilities to make money with this application.

This application is what the internet marketers have been waiting for. Previously they advertise their site through Twitters, but now they can do it using Wave.

The best part about this application is that its open source. That is correct you read it right, open source. Just imagine the numbers of plugins that will be available for this application once it goes live. From the current demo, there seem to be a plugin that allows it to grab “Tweets” and put it into the Wave.

Soon, the blue bird will drown a BIG wave. Could Google Wave be the Twitter killer? Only time will tell. In the mean time let us wait and see how things unfold.

All you have to do is sign up, include the widget in your blog and you’re ready to go. If you blog is using Wordpress blog engine you can easily download the plugin and install it. The plugin will take care of the rest.

The first step to create an account by signing up to OnlyWire. The sign up process is simple and straight forward. Once you have successfully sign up you will need to log in to your account. You will be presented with the default account page.

Now comes the tedious part, you will need to set up your bookmarking sites. If you do not have account with any of these site, you will need to create one, and fill in the login information and password accordingly. As you can see from the image below I have only setup the accounts for the more popular bookmarking websites. Once I have the time, I will create the account for the rest of the bookmarking websites.
