Revisiting The Basics Of Google Adsense

If you were to ask me what Google Adsense is, I would be shocked. Almost every blog or websites now will have Google Adsense embedded within the site. Anyways since I am in a cheery mood, let us revisit the basic of Google Adsense.

Please take note that there are other type of Adsense as well. They are Adsense for feeds, search, mobile content and domains. This article will be centered on the most common one which is Adsense for websites.

What Is Google Adsense?

Google Adsense is advertisements that you can include on your website or even feeds. These advertisements can be in the form of text, images or video (flash). Now here is the best part. You make money whenever someone clicks on your Asense.

How To Qualify For Google Adsense Program?

Basically you can sign up at Google Adsense. If you do not have an existing blog or website I would suggest that you create a blog using blogger and create 1 post per day for the next 10 days or so before signing up to Adsense. That is because during the sign up process you will need to include your website address. Please make sure that the contents of your website fall within the Google’s term and conditions. Once you are done, you will have to wait for a couple of days for Google to review your website. In the mean time you should continue to update your blog regularly.

What Are The Different Adsense Sizes?

The text advertisements are available in different sizes. They are categorized as banner, wide skyscraper, small square, large rectangle and many more. Here is a complete list of the different Adsense sizes.

Which Is The Best Adsense Size?

It would be a turn off if your website is filled with just Adsense and very little content. Therefore it is important to remember that adverts should never overpower the contents of your website. It is recommended that you select large rectangle adverts and embed them in your articles. If you prefer to keep the contents of your article free of adverts you can use the wide skyscraper advert and include it at the side column. Banners on the other hand are normally disregarded by people therefore not recommended.

What Color Should I Select for My Adsense?

This is very subjective to each individual. However it is recommended that your adverts color should blend in together with your existing website.

Where Should I Place My Adsense?

If you own a blog it would be best to place the advert either directly above the post (but below the post title) or top right of the post. Some people on the other hand prefer to place the adverts at the end of the post. Try to place your adverts on different places and see which position gives you the most clicks.

With all these basic tips in mind you are on your very first step in making money online with Google Adsense.

It’s quite shocking how much the users of Adsense have manipulated the program but Adsense itself hasn’t changed much. New tools have risen out of the dust that helps you improve your Adsense optimization such as WordPress plugins and other available software.

It’s pretty funny how no other pay per click program has really posed a tangible threat to Adsense. The problem that they have is that they either cant puck up better Cost per click rates or they’re just simply to complicated to use.

Adsense has also brought a new niche into the blogosphere. There are thousands of bloggers on the internet now who present themselves as “internet marketing experts” or “Adsense Professionals”. The bad part of this is that it’s introduced huge amounts of spam. Still, with Adsense it’s never been easier to make money online.

Overall Adsense is still the leading PPC advertising outlet on the internet. I’d be very curious to see if another company other than Google in the near future will make Google “run for their money”.
